Artist Bio Mark Fort ( Seascapes, Sunsets, Figurative, and Portraiture )

Artist Mark Fort was born and has spent much of his life and career on California’s beautiful central coast. Having had an appreciation for creative energy from an early age, he has refined his skills and talents from a very early age by drawing since adolescence and is acclaimed as a self taught artist. Painting for over 20 years now, Fort works primarily in oil on canvas but often returns to acrylic for his pleinair work. Though he has spent many years focusing on a career in portraiture which is the most difficult discipline in visual fine arts, he has found his way back to his love and highly refined skill for capturing sunsets and seascapes like no other artist. Fort has won contests locally and nationally for his creative works. His one man shows are quite popular throughout California coastal communities. He has been recognized by fortune 500 companies for his work in nation wide competitions for works depicting seascapes and wildlife. His work has been represented by some of California’s most renowned galleries but he prefers a more direct connection with his buyers and collectors and most often opts to paint pleinair ( on location , in the open air ) at beaches near his home and throughout the world where he rarely finishes painting without selling it to a random passer-by. Artist Fort is grateful to have been encouraged by collectors to return to his particular passion for painting Seascapes and Sunsets, but he is also quite skilled with figurative works within themes of love and romance, dance, athletics, and nudes and often accepts private commissions.
